Wedding Rehearsals
Q: Can I have my rehearsal at Castle Hill the day before my wedding?
A: Castle Hill does not provide a wedding rehearsal service prior to the day of the wedding. All rehearsals are conducted no earlier than 2 hours prior to the contracted start time of the event. Castle Hill is rented throughout the week, providing no opportunity for a rehearsal on the day before the wedding.
Wedding Ceremonies
Q: Can I have my ceremony at Castle Hill without renting The Great House?
A: Castle Hill does not provide services for ceremonies only at The Great House. You may rent The Great House and have your ceremony on site prior to your reception. We provide 200 outdoor chairs, set up and clean up, event management for the logistics of your ceremony. A ceremony fee does apply.
Q: What will the event manager do for me?
A: The event manager will help you coordinate your wedding plans and provide suggestions for vendor services associated with Castle Hill. The event manager will be the liaison between the caterer, client, and other vendors. The event manager and staff will manage the bar service, oversee the maintenance of the Castle Hill facility, provide hostess services for the guests, and work closely with the caterer to maintain the timeline for the day. The event manager will be available throughout the year to answer questions and will meet with you and your caterer for a final meeting to review every detail of your wedding at Castle Hill.
Caterer
Q: Who will manage the food service and flow of events?
A: The caterer is responsible for providing the schedule of the evening by insuring that the food service — from hors d'oeuvres to the cake cutting and dessert — is followed as closely as possible. The event manager will work throughout the event to coordinate beverage service (toasts and bar service) with the caterer.
Q: Can I use a caterer that is not on the Castle Hill vendor list?
A: No. The caterers on the Castle Hill vendor list provide a wide range of menu styles and prices. You must select a caterer that is on the list.
Bar Service
Q: What are the hours of operation?
A: Castle Hill manages the bar service and has a strict 4.5 hour limit on liquor service. Liquor service must end one half hour prior to the end of the event. There is no “last call” warning announced. Details.
Q: Can I buy and bring in my own alcoholic beverages?
A: No. Castle Hill holds a liquor license and requires that all alcoholic beverages be purchased from Castle Hill.
House Rules
Q: How long can the band or DJ play?
A: The band can play until the final end time of the event. The band cannot continue to play after the end time unless overtime has been requested by the user to the event manager and the band agrees to play during this period. The event manager will discreetly ask the band to stop playing if the band continues to play beyond the contracted end time.
Q: Who will make announcements?
A: The band or D.J. is responsible for making all the necessary announcements such as bridal dances, cake cutting, last dance, etc.
Q: Can I extend my event past 10:00 PM?
A: Overtime is allowed from 10 - 11PM for an additional fee of $1,500.
PLEASE NOTE: All 5-hour rental periods begin and conclude at 10PM. Overtime may be purchased for $1,500 from 10 - 11PM.
Q: Can I throw rice?
A: The throwing of rice, confetti, and birdseed is not allowed due to it attracts our surrounding wildlife. However, you may use rose petals outside on the lawn.
Q: Can I use candles?
A: Candles are permitted if the flame is completely enclosed in glass and may only be placed on event tables (not on mantels or permanent furnishings in the Great House). Votive candles and hurricane lamps are permitted as long as the flame does not extend beyond the enclosure of the glass.
Q: Can I receive a tax benefit for having my event at Castle Hill?
A: Your event is not tax deductible. Under the Quid Pro Quo rules you cannot receive a benefit for your "contribution", it is not tax deductible.
